Is she a tease playing mind games, does she like me, did i come on to her to strong, what should be next leave?

we met by chance at a shopping centre about 9 months ago for about 20 mins and never saw each other for aprox 6 months after that. since we met by chance again at the same place she told me she was looking for me and i said i was also looking to see her also. since that day we would see each other every day before and after work i invite her over for dinner also. When we would go shopping or be seen in public places she would act like we are a couple. the looks and feelings she would give me at times felt like she likes me and that there may be a future between us. after aprox 1 and a half months i told her that i am growing fond of her and that i want to know if there is any possibility that this could go any further between us. she said that "she didnt know how to talk about this and that she just wants to be friends for now" since then we have still seen each other every day antill i told her that "no matter what sort of friendship we have i have to tell you the truth and that i have grown a very strong affection toward you" and that " i dont want to wreck the friendship bonds that we have gotten together" she came over and said to me that with me telling her this it makes her uncomfortable, i said that i understand and that i back off, i wanted t talk it out properly with her but she avoids it since i told her this she has been avoiding me like a plague and now we havnt seen each other for days. i have phoned her and she is very short on the phone and always says "im out with friends" she came over to day for the first time in 4 days and she stayed all of about 10minutes i spoke to her like a friend only and still she seemed very uneasy being around me
